Drawing Main Street’s historic character indoors, the lobby features familiar red-brick accents, eclectic area rugs, soaring glass windows and floor-to-ceiling bookshelves filled with vintage novels and leather-bound classics. MGM Springfield’s lobby is the prelude for the resort’s overarching design philosophy, creating a welcoming arrival for guests to congregate and socialize. Ranging from large-scale sculptures and mosaics to intricate lithographs, the collection pays homage to the city’s past with pieces that give a nod to Springfield’s industrial roots and others inspired by famed locals including Dr. The collection showcases commissioned and procured works by local and international creators including Mia Pearlman, Jeppe Hein, Springfield natives Marlon Seymour and John Simpson, and others. From recasting the former Chandler Hotel into a sophisticated steakhouse to restoring a 19th century arsenal and a High Gothic-style church, the development thoughtfully merges new building and contemporary design with historic architecture.ĭrawing inspiration from the region’s rich history and vibrant arts community, MGM Springfield has curated a permanent art collection woven through all elements of the resort. The rooms, designed by MGM Resorts Design & Development, feature historical building façades framing the windows reclaimed wood tables made from trees on the former Bliss Street in the Garden and Spa Suites and a custom chandelier made of vintage hats, inspired by Dr.
